Being self sufficient when it comes to utility dependency is something not can work to up to a point. One main problem is that you water for many variable reasons and unless you buy property with a big well that manages the water and recycles it you need to pay for water utility which is not as bad as it could be cheaper than investing in the water treatment materials. Supplying your own heat and electric can be done but only if you put the investment in first, the main known way to produce own heat and light is through solar panels and electric heating and combining that with top quality windows that doesn’t let heat escape will save money and if you produce enough electricity can sell it to the electric company.
