  1. Atlantic City NJ, 5 windmills and solar over the garage of the Atlantic City waste water treatment center, on a great foggy day. The tops of the blades were out of sight, but as they descended with the wind they appeared out of the fog and then whooshed back up out of sight – it was surreal.

  2. Walking to lunch in Harvard Sq. and we saw solar panels being installed on top of Charlies Kitchen/The Red House. 500 gal solar HW system that has an ROI of just 4 years according to the installer and owner.

  5. The Empire State Building is going Green!! Looking for full green integration and renovations by 2013, the Empire State Building also aims at LEED Gold Certification estimating 4.4 million dollars in savings per year and lowering their energy consumption and carbon footprint by 38%.

  6. Harvard Square, top of a Harvard building on Holyoke and Mt Auburn (this is the view looking down Mt. Auburn Street SE). See the row of 5 fixed windmills on the building above the yellow signs.

  13. This solar water heater was incorporated onto the Newton Firehouse in 2001 as part of the SUNERGY project. According to the City of Newton website, this was a “partnership between the City of Newton, the Green Decade Coalition, the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce and local Houses of Worship” whose goal it was to increase the number of solar roofs in Newton.

    A solar survey conducted by volunteers in 2000 revealed 114 homes in Newton using rooftop solar panels!

  15. I am on vacation in The Netherlands and saw this modern wind mill on the A4 ‘Autosnelweg’ near the town of Zoeterwoude.

    I quickly snapped the photo with my iPhone and later was able to extract the exact GPS coordinates of the photo to map it. Map link: http://go2.vg/6qDlx (GPS – 52,7.5n 4,28.95e)

    Note, I was not driving but was a passenger in the front seat of the car we were in!

  16. The Az. Republic has published 3 Articles on APS our power company building 3
    large Solar Powered faclities in Az. They are really becoming active. APS helped fund the Solar on our house.
    Have 4-5 friends with recent Solar additions. We are making progress but have a long way to go.
    We need to attrack some Solar Companies to come here and manufacture the SOLAR panels and stuctures here.
    First Solar Electric has their Hq’s here but no manurfacturing here!!!
    ASU has a school of SUSTAINABILITY that is graduating students that will help.
    Pres. David Crow is doing a good job. He has /is putting $150 M. of Solar on the Roofs.
    Our school District has started putting up Solar on the High Schools. Rep. Tom Boone is head of the School Board and has sponsored 4 Solar Energy Bills in the State Leg.
    We are slowly getting there.

  18. Going “Old School” with a retro style windmill to pump well water, on Rambo road just north of Fairchild AFB. Just a few miles east of the farm with the windmill and solar array that I posted a few weeks ago.
