How to Become a Greenspotter

Learn How to Become a Greenspotter
If you learn how to become a Greenspotter©, you can play an important part in the renewable energy movement. Never before have so many factors aligned so perfectly to encourage development of community-based distributed generation projects. From the economy, to our new President, concerns over global climate change and even the ravages of a war fought in part to protect oil supplies.
Have we had enough?
If so, how can becoming a Greenspotter© help?
For starters, the practice will open your eyes to the number of alternative energy installations that are already operational. Look around, and you may be surprised. Here in Oregon, I’ve noticed solar panels on a few schools, the top of a local newspaper headquarters, and even a couple of traffic signals. Hey, if they can do it, why not you? Greenspotting may inspire you to incorporate renewable energy at your own home or business.
You may even be able to change some skeptics’ minds by Greenspotting©. One of my friends doesn’t “believe” in global climate change, despite considerable evidence that would prove him wrong. On a walk around town a few weeks ago, I greenspotted solar installations on a number of historic homes near the Deschutes River. I think my friend was surprised by the fact that so many homeowners were opting for renewable energy. Just maybe he left with a new perspective about the viability of (if not the need for) clean, green energy.

It helps if you carry a camera or camcorder with you. Personally, I think its fun to post photos and videos on Flickr or YouTube of your greenspotting finds. Again, this will demonstrate to naysayers that solar and wind energy is viable and that people across the country (even the world) are tapping into the well of renewable energy resources.
Greenspotting© is an integral part of the grassroots efforts that will help us build our way out of the recession and out of dependence on foreign oil supplies and dirty coal. Are you ready to become part of the Build, Baby Build greenspotters army? We’re taking as many recruits as we can.
